MANAGING FATS, OILS, AND GREASE IN YOUR HOME!

WHAT IS F.O.G?
Fats, Oils, and Grease (F.O.G) come from animal and vegetable based foods used for cooking. It's not just from deep frying. Examples include oils, salad dressings, margarine, sauces and dairy products.

WHY IS F.O.G A CONCERN?
When F.O.G. enters the sewer system, it congeals, restricting the flow of wastewater. When the system is clogged by F.O.G., raw sewage can back up into your sinks, toilets, basements and can even overflow into Casco Bay and other local waterways.

WHAT DOES THE F.O.G. PROGRAM MEAN FOR RESIDENTS?
An educational program for homeowners and tenants to learn how to dispose of F.O.G. properly, keeping it out of the sewer system.
