Portland resident who receive trash and recycling collection from the City of Portland are eligible to participate in the Bulky Item Collection Program.  Restrictions may apply. Please call 207-874-8801 for question or to check eligibility if needed.

Items That Will Not Be Collected
There will be no Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) or e-waste accepted for this program. 
What We Cannot Take
For the safety of our employees, please no nails or sharp objects.

We cannot accept liquids or sludge, dirt, rock, hot ashes, concrete or asphalt, hazardous or infectious waste, construction and demolition debris or appliances containing a refrigerant.

Here are some examples of unacceptable items:
  • Appliances with coolant (air conditioner / dehumidifier / refrigerator / freezer, etc.)
  • Any materials resulting from work performed by a general contractor
  • Automobile parts including motors, tires on rims, doors, fenders, batteries, bumpers, etc.
  • Items in bags (place in blue city trash bags)
  • Bricks / concrete / cinder blocks, etc.
  • Building material from home projects including renovations and remodeling
  • Cardboard boxes (Please recycle.)
  • Fencing material
  • Dirt / sand / loam / asphalt / rocks (any inert material)
  • Liquids of ANY kind
  • Paint and other hazardous waste (Bring to Riverside Recycling for disposal information.)
  • Pallets
  • Plaster / sheetrock / drywall
  • Propane / oxygen tanks
  • Railroad ties
  • Roofing materials, shingles
  • Yard waste
