Portland’s LEAAP Program Gets Support from Charity New Year's Eve Gala

Portland’s Law Enforcement Addiction Advocacy Program will get a boost in the new year thanks to the support of proceeds from a New Year’s Eve charity gala at Boone’s Fish House & Oyster Room.

The City’s LEAAP program, which is run by the Portland Police Department, works to address the opioid epidemic through education, community awareness, and the facilitation of treatment. A full-time Substance Use Disorder Liaison, Oliver Bradeen, conducts proactive, regular, ongoing outreach with community members who suffer from substance use disorders. Oliver works in the community, acts as a subject matter expert to the police department, and assists people who are struggling with addiction in exploring treatment options. He also provides education and awareness to police officers and the community with the goal of transforming the collective mindset so that addiction is viewed as a medical problem, not a criminal issue. And he works with family members and friends seeking advice and assistance in obtaining help for their loved ones.

Boone’s New Year’s Eve party with a purpose gala includes a four course dinner available in their downstairs dining room with tickets, and The Awesome will be playing upstairs in the Oyster Room from 9 PM until late. Tickets for the four course meal are $85 a person in the dining room or people can come only for the music, which is $25 a ticket. There will be many great giveaway prizes including a weekend Sunday River Pass.
