May 31 Public Meeting to Discuss Skatepark Expansion

Skatepark Draft Expansion Plan

The Portland Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department is hosting a public meeting to discuss the expansion of the existing skatepark at Dougherty Field. The meeting will be Wednesday, May 31, 5:30pm to 6:30pm at East End Community School in the cafeteria. There will be a brief overview of the need for expansion, and a presentation on DRAFT design of elements that could be added.

The Parks Division is looking for skaters, bikers and others who want to give input on the design! Come with your ideas and requests for new features. All ages welcome.

The Portland Skatepark was installed in 2008 using a mix of public and private financing. After the initial design and location were determined, the city provided roughly 50% of the funding for the project through Capital Improvement funds, while the local skate community raised funds for the remaining 50% of the project. The City hopes to work with the community to pursue a similar funding partnership for the upcoming skatepark expansion.
