Powsland/Mitton Street Sewer and Water Replacement- Powsland Street Curb/Parking

The Department of Public Works would like to update you on the activities regarding the above referenced project. The project involved the installation of new sewer & water mains, and the reconstruction of the roadway(s). As required, the roadway was reconstructed in accordance with the City’s Technical Design Standards. The standards include a cross-section of a 28 feet wide paved surface with granite curbing on both sides of the road. We understand that existing conditions on Powsland Street have allowed vehicles to park on a paved apron extending perpendicular from the travel way to the right-of-way line. Due to the installation of granite curbing, installed to facilitate roadway drainage, vehicles will no be able to park as existing. The paved aprons are to be removed and restored back to grass. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Parking can occur on the street next to the curb as well as on the private driveways.

The project was unable to be finished this year and the contractor will be back in the spring to reset the curbing on the even side of Powsland and finish the loaming and seeding of the lawn areas. The sewer manholes will be raised in the spring and the street will be paved again with surface pavement. All of the underground utility work is complete.

We thank you again for your patience during this project. We are almost complete. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Nathaniel Smith at 874-8818 or
