Holiday Trash & Recycling Collection Schedule + Christmas Tree Disposal

NEWS ALERT

The Department of Public Works would like to remind residents about the upcoming holiday trash and recycling collection as well as the process for disposing of Christmas trees.

HOLIDAY TRASH & RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULE

The City of Portland will not collect trash and recycling on Christmas and New Year's Day. If your normal collection day is Tuesday, your trash & recycling will be collected on Saturday, December 29 and Saturday, January 5.

CHRISTMAS TREE DROP OFF & COLLECTION

Christmas trees can be dropped off at the following locations during the month of January:

  • Cutter Street parking lot on the Eastern Prom (upper lot on right, not the sliding hill lot)
  • Douglas Street Salt Shed Area
  • Riverside Golf Course, South Course (9-hole), 1010 Riverside Street

Trees dropped off at any of these locations will be taken to Riverside Recycling and chipped up.

Christmas trees can also be left for curbside collection on your normal trash day during the month of January. Trees collected curbside will be co-mingled with trash and taken to ecomaine.

Please remember that wrapping paper IS recyclable, but bubble wrap and styrofoam packaging is NOT. For more holiday recycling tips, visit ecomaine
