Changes in Effect to Accessory Dwelling Units on Peaks Island

These text amendments, aimed at fostering development of accessory dwelling units (ADU) as year­-round affordable housing units on Peaks Island, have a the minimum unit size of 300 square feet, may not be rented as a short term rental (both the ADU and principal unit) on Peaks Island, and come with affordability restrictions for lawfully non­conforming lots on Peaks. Under these affordability restrictions, rental rates are restricted to those permitted at 80% of Area Median Income (AMI), and owners of such units are required to enter into an Affordable Housing Agreement (AHA).
