2019 Cruise Season Officially Gets Underway

cruise ship season

The 2019 cruise season officially began today with the arrival of the first big cruise ship, the Norwegian Dawn, with 2,224 passengers and 1,000 crew members. Portland will host two other large cruise ships in May with the arrival of the Grandeur of the Seas on May 19 and the Norwegian Dawn again on May 23 before kicking into the busier summer and fall months.

This year, Portland will welcome 100 cruise ships in total between May and November with 152,801 passengers expected and 62,204 crew. While the total number of cruise ships is slightly down this year, Portland is welcoming larger vessels with more passengers.

For a full list of ships cruising in and out of Portland this season with schedule and passenger count information, visit the Portland Cruise Schedule.

The City continues to operate the Waterfront Marketplace where local street vendors and artists can set up their displays between Ocean Gateway and the Portland Ocean Terminal on cruise ship days with 1,000+ passengers. For more information on the Waterfront Marketplace, click here
