Back Cove South Storage Facility update 5-4-2020

Project Description: The project involves the underground installation of a 3.5 MG storage tank, facility control building and upon completion, the Preble Street playing fields will be restored at a higher elevation to assist with tidal inundation which limits the use of the fields.

Schedule: The month of May will see the following activities on the site:

1. Completion of site mobilization by the Contractor (Sargent Corporation) to include the jobsite construction trailer, installation of an access drive from Preble Street and installation of construction security fencing.

2. Stripping and grubbing of the existing turf surface.

3. Site excavation and raising the surface grade and trail along the shoreline for flood protection.

4. Installation of erosion control protection together with shoreline riprap stabilization.

5. Installation of sheet piling for the excavation stabilization for the tank installation. The installation of sheet piling will require several months to install and is a critical path item to accommodate excavation for the tank installation.

6. Removal of excavated material from the site and stockpiling of materials on the project site.

7. Surface grading of the land within the area shown on the attached graphic.
