Fox Street Field is getting an improvement!

FutsalFox

Fox Street Field is getting a new improvement this fall and spring: a Futsal court will be installed on the south side of the field by the playground and North Boyd Street pedestrian path. Futsal is a five on five ball sport , similar to soccer, played on a smaller court. It is a faster paced game with more opportunities for goal scoring, but with a smaller, less bouncy ball. Unlimited substitutions are allowed, and typically four people are on the field on each team with each side having a goalkeeper. Futsal comes from the Spanish “futbol sala , or futbol de salon, and Portuguese Futebol de salão, which means hall/lounge football.

Construction has begun on the court base materials and fencing and surfacing are expected to be completed in the spring in time for warmer weather and pick up matches. It’s important to note that the new court will not impact the current playable area of Fox Field.
