Portland Mayor Kate Snyder today acknowledged Inauguration Day 2021 by congratulating President Biden and Vice President Harris. Tonight’s City Council meeting includes a Proclamation Recognizing January 20, 2021 as Inauguration Day.

Mayor Snyder issued the following remarks:

“It was an emotional day for me to watch the historic inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris. I am thrilled that we can no longer say that there’s never been a woman to hold the second highest office in our country. And on top of that, a woman of color whose parents were immigrants. How inspiring this is for the many children in our community whose own parents are immigrants, to see that their future is filled with limitless possibilities. I was moved by President Biden’s speech in which he talked about unifying our nation, and listening to one another in order for us to make progress on that many things that this country must overcome and address, including his commitment to making swift progress related to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is much work to be done on many fronts, and I look forward to assisting in any way that the City of Portland can. I offer my sincere congratulations to the new President and Vice President.”
