Custodial Worker - on-call
Recreation and Facilities Management-
Schedule may include nights and weekends. This position is located primarily at Merrill Auditorium, City Hall and Sports Complex but may be required to work in other City-owned buildings. Duties include event set-up prior to events, necessary assistance during events including placing and moving chairs, mats, riser and stage sections, sound and light equipment and sports equipment, clean-up immediately after event including moving and/or removing all items and equipment that was used during the event and routine cleaning of facility prior to and following each event. Duties also include performing routine facility maintenance as necessary and routine exterior maintenance, including snow removal.
Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects over an extended period of time; working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to meet and deal courteously with the public; physical strength and agility necessary to perform the essential functions of the work; must possess valid Maine Class C driver's license (please provide license number) and vehicle available for work use where applicable. Prior customer service experience desired.

Director of Nursing Services

The Barron Center is a 219 bed, municipally operated, long-term and skilled care nursing home including a 50 bed dementia unit. We take pride in our long history of kind, compassionate and individualized care. The Director of Nursing Services is a key position in our senior management team and assumes responsibility for the oversight of clinical practice, regulatory compliance, and above all, commitment to meeting the needs of residents and their families. The Director of Nursing Services will supervise a stable and high functioning staff of Nurse Managers and Supervisors. We will require an energetic and experienced professional with significant long term care experience who can set and maintain the standards for the future of Barron Center. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to oversee the departmental budget, regulatory compliance, staffing patterns and personnel issues.
Requirements include current Maine licensure as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree preferred; thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing the operation of a long-term care facility; a proven track record of success in nursing administration, considerable experience in rehabilitative, gerontological and long term care nursing, experience with active Quality Improvement Programs; proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively and the ability to lead a professional staff through continued change. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment a plus. Successful candidates will be subject to a satisfactory criminal background check.
