The Public Health Division's newest program utilizes research, public health surveillance, analysis and interpretation of public health data, as well as program evaluation. The Research and Evaluation Program will conduct public health research that focuses on understanding determinants of health. The technical assistance provided by the Research and Evaluation Program will strengthen the research capacity of the Public Health Division programs.
Additionally, the Research and Evaluation Program will evaluate each program within the division which will be a systematic and objective assessment of the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability, and impact of our programs.
Another core function of the Research and Evaluation Program is public health surveillance and analysis. Public health surveillance is a systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of health data. This will significantly support a newly proposed Annual Health of Portland Report.
