Proposed Housing Policy Initiatives - Public Feedback Requested!

housing report cover

The Housing Committee would like your feedback on the list of potential housing policy initiatives outlined in the 2017 Housing Report. These initiatives culminated from ideas gathered in 2016 from four public input meetings which led to more than 135 policy ideas.  A special community forum was then held to engage attendees in a discussion of what part of the list merits priority attention for a more detailed analysis by the City.  Eleven housing policy initiatives stemming from the 2016 “bucket list” of policy ideas were linked to a feedback form that gathered public input from October, 2017 through January 16, 2018.

The feedback survey has been reopened to extend the opportunity for public input.  We welcome you to complete a brief survey around these policy ideas. Please complete the survey by visiting the following link. Housing Policy Initiative Survey

Survey Responses must be submitted by February 6 in order to be reviewed by staff for the February 7 Housing Committee Meeting.

Thank you for your input!

2017 Housing Report Now Available

The report gives an overview of the current housing market and showcases the many policies and initiatives the City has adopted and is utilizing to address the issues of housing availability and affordability.

2017 Housing Report

The report is broken into four sections:

1) a compilation of data on current conditions and topics that interact with Portland’s housing market;

2) an overview of current City initiatives and tools utilized to address the unique challenges of a growing city and its specific housing needs;

3) a review of available funding sources (local and federal), which the City leverages to achieve its community-based and housing related goals;

4) a potential set of policy proposals for committee discussion. These proposals were taken, in part, from the “bucket list” of ideas created through the public process undertaken by the Housing Committee in 2016.
