First Public Meeting for Integrated Water Resources Plan to be Held Feb 27

NEWS ALERT

The Portland Department of Public Works Water Resources Division is holding its first public information meeting for the City’s Integrated Water Resources Management Plan on Wednesday, Feb. 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the DPW Training Room at 250 Canco Road.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the development of the Integrated Plan and hear from the community. The snow date for this meeting is March 6, 2019 at the same time and location.

At this meeting, DPW staff will discuss the Integrated Water Resources Management Plan (Integrated Plan, or IP). The IP will help the City prioritize spending with respect to wastewater and stormwater infrastructure and water quality protection.  A more efficient plan will support reliable City services that residents and businesses depend on. Staff will also discuss the related infrastructure needs that will be addressed to benefit Portland’s residents, businesses and the environment.

"Integrated Planning is the best way I know to be exceptional stewards of the money the City entrusts to us," states Nancy Gallinaro, City of Portland Water Resources Manager.

The Integrated Plan involves topics residents and business owners care about: our working waterfront, recreational access, stormwater, wastewater, flooding and more. As a result, the City is seeking community input. The City wants to ensure that the future priorities of the plan protect public health and the environment.

The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. and last approximately 40 minutes. It will be followed by a time for questions and discussion, when residents and business owners are encouraged to ask questions and share feedback. City staff and technical team members will be available to talk with you.  The City has held three workshops for stakeholder groups thus far, and this public meeting is an opportunity for the broader community to get involved as well.

"My vision is a city that puts clean water in the center of how we live, grow and prosper,” notes Gallinaro.

Anyone who is interested in providing input, hearing about the progress of the plan, and learning how the DPW invests in water and sewer infrastructure should attend this meeting. Visit the Integrated Plan website at www.BluePortland.org for more information and to sign up to receive meeting notices and updates by email.
