City Cancels March 16 Council Meeting & Suspends All Public Meetings

news alert

Out of an abundance of caution and for preventative reasons only, the Portland City Council is cancelling its March 16 meeting and March 23 workshop. Both will be rescheduled at dates to be determined.

Additionally, the City is suspending all committee or public meetings for one month based on recommendations to practice social distancing in order to reduce the number of large gatherings to help slow the spread of the infection. The City will reassess this directive on an ongoing basis and announce any changes should this change.

This includes the Planning Board, Parks Commission, Land Bank, and more. For full information on the cancellation of these meetings, visit https://www.portlandmaine.gov/agendas. All meetings will be rescheduled at a later date.

As Maine has just identified its first presumptive positive case today, more measures from the City may be forthcoming as the pandemic situation continues to evolve.

The City continues to encourage the public to stay up to date on the latest information from the Maine CDC. The City is posting information related to COVID-19 resources on a dedicated page at https://www.portlandmaine.gov/COVID19
