City Seeks New Director of Public Health

portland news

The City of Portland announced today that it is seeking a new Public Health Director following the news that the current director, Bob Fowler, is resigning effective November 3 to pursue other professional and personal opportunities. Current Health & Human Services Deputy Director, Tina Pettingill, MPH, will step in as the interim Public Health Director until a replacement is found.

“I'm honored to have served as Portland's Director of Public Health,” said Bob Fowler. “I'm looking forward to returning to my clinical roots and re-establishing a private psychotherapy practice as well as engaging in other pursuits."

The City is now seeking qualified candidates to fill the Public Health Director position within the Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Public Health. The position is responsible for the overall administration of the City of Portland’s public health programs, including development of program policy, assessment of community needs, and assessment of the available resources to meet these needs. This leadership position requires responsibility for public health issues, financial management, and long range and strategic planning for public health programs.

“I’d like to thank Bob for his service to the city and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” said Kristen Dow, Director of the City’s Health & Human Services Department. “I’m thankful that Tina is able to step in and serve in this interim capacity as we search for the next director. Having a new public health director on board quickly is a key priority for us.”

The starting salary range is $88,908-$109,338. The full job description and instructions on how to apply can be found here
